Porcelain Doll Sleep Eyes Restoration - Doll Hospital Case History

Case history of a porcelain doll sleep eyes restoration

Repaired Porcelain Doll Sleep Eyes by A Timeless Doll Hospital

This was a beautiful porcelain  baby doll head who had lost her eyes and wig to time. We re-set her beautiful blue sleep eyes and replaced her old, tangled worn out mohair with a soft, blonde mohair wig at the Customer's request. Alternatively, for many dolls we can clean and re-set tired old mohair wigs, if there is enough hair left.

The sleep eyes inside porcelain doll heads are most often assembled using plaster. Sockets are created with the plaster thereby holding the eye assembly in place and allowing for the up and down movement. For various reasons this plaster can detach from the porcelain. This is not a job for the amateur. This is an assembly process we teach in our doll school and is therefore a routine job for the doll doctor in our doll hospital.
