We see all sorts of attempts at repairing dolls. Sometimes it was done by a family member or friend with good intentions. Sometimes though, we find dolls that have been sent to a so-called doll hospital and the results are sad. Sad because someone paid for the job and sad that their treasured doll has been compromised by incompetence.
This Barbara Ann Scott was in need of re-stringing. This fix is as common as the cold is to we humans so it should be straight forward to someone who has done hundreds, like Sheila, our Doll Doctor. Rubber does not stand the test of time and eventually all dolls require re-stringing. In the course of re-stringing the doll, the individual managed to crack the body at the seam. Rather than fixing it at no expense, which was the proper thing to do, they simply tied rope around her waist.
This doll will be dis-assembled, the body repaired and re-painted, then re-strung.
